Apes are not really that much dumber than us, especially the great ones. Susan Savage-Rumbaugh has been studying Bonobo that understand human language, can draw symbols, start fires and even play Pac-Man. Susan thinks that the level of intelligence is determined by culture (vs. biology) to a much greater extent than it is currently thought.
AronRa is another prominent YouTube anti-creationism activist, along with DonExodus2 and Thunderf00t. In this video series, he exposes “13 Foundational Falsehoods of Creationism”. His videos are very informational, and filled with facts. They’re not as funny as Thunderf00t’s, but much more systemic in going over creationists’ fraudulent claims step by step.
I’ve been long inspired by YouTube’s potential – this is a perfect example of a very educational, full-length popular science documentary, created by just one person. And it’s better so far than anything I’ve seen on the topic by PBS, CNN or any other mainstream production studio.
The obnoxious Discovery Institute posted a list of scientists rejecting evolution, roughly a hundred souls – here’s the link to this document. DonExodus2 whose videos I posted before dissected the list, and emailed its signees. As expected, creationists had no better ideas than to fall back on the proven tactics of misrepresentation and deception.
From the video description:
The truth of the matter is, DI lied repeatedly when constructing the list, and, by their own admission, even IF the numbers are skewed hugely in favor or the creationists, this still leaves .0027% of scientists in the US rejecting evolution.
Great rational arguments on why teaching Creationism (or Intelligent Design, what have you) in schools is a terrible idea by DonExodus2. He’s an evolutionary biology PhD student, and he’s got lots of great, educational videos on his YouTube channel. I’ll be posting my favorites soon.
This is a truly amazing series of Youtube videos debunking creationist’s beliefs propaganda. You don’t know who creationists are? Consider yourself lucky (unless you unknowingly happen to be one). There are various degree of this mental disorder, and in its toughest form it leads people to believe that the Earth is 6,000 years old, men used to live up to 900 years and roamed the earth along with dinosaurs. Evolution never happened, all body of scientific knowledge is complete junk or falsification.
The author, Thunderf00t, has broad scientific erudition, and humorously, but very factually, debunks creationists’ myths and “arguments” they use to succumb scientifically illiterate to their blind faith. Everybody gets their fair treatment:
VenomFangX, the famous YouTube creationism preacher, aka “posterboy for creationist stupidity”
Kent Hovind, a self-proclaimed PhD and a criminal, founder of Creation Science Evangelism (sic)
Ben Stein, a TV celebrity, who produced one of the most obnoxious documentaries ever, Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed, in which he links evolution to Nazy Germany, claiming that “science leads you to killing people” (sic!!!, see part 24)
It’s hard for me to believe so much stupidity can exists in this world. I’m glad I’m not alone:
“Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I’m not sure about the universe.” — Albert Einstein
But aside from genuine stupidity, what really strikes me is the arrogance of creationists as it has become obvious long time ago that most (if not all) of them has very little grasp of the ideas they’re trying to dispute. The sad part of it is that these people really aim to influence politics, science and education. Please watch. It’s 26 parts, but it’s worth it!
